Day 1D1. Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Arrival at the Chinggis Khaan international airport in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. Our guide-interpreter and driver will welcome you at the airport and lead you to the city journey. Then you will visit the National History Museum and the Genghis Khan Square in front of the Mongolian Parliament to introduce the general knowledge and information about the Mongolian history and culture. Day 2D2. Ulaanbaatar – Khogno Khan

Directly move to the Khogno Khan called Central Gobi, one of the 33 Gobi in Mongolia. Visit a nomadic family, installed in the middle of the pastures. Tasting « White food » and notably airag, the traditional drink made from fermented mare’s milk. Visiting one of ancient Buddhist monasteries in the mountain. Erdene khamba monastery located in the sacred Mountain Khugnu Khan. FB, overnight in Nomadic family

Day 3D3. Khogno Khan - Arvaikheer – 8 Lakes

Departure to the steppe of the Uvurkhangai, the typical landscape of the Mongolian steppe as far as the eye can see. Arrival in Arvaikheer, capital of the region, typical small town of Mongolian province. Visit the museum of ethnography and history of the region, as well as the memorial hall of his Holiness Zanabazar, the first Buddhist spiritual leader of Mongolia. Day 4D4. Trekking from Shireet lake – Khaliut Lake

First day of hiking accompanied by yaks in the Khangai massif towards Shireet, Bugat and Khaliut lakes. We stop in the Shireet Lake for lunch in the wilderness. Then continue to Khaliut Lake after leaving Duruu Lake. Set up the tent near the Khaliut Lake. FB, overnight in tent

Day 7D7. Trekking in Mountain Buurug– Orkhon Falls

Continue to the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape sprawls along the banks of the Orkhon River in Central Mongolia, inscribed by UNESCO in the World Heritage List as representing evolution of nomadic pastoral traditions spanning more than two millennia. At lunch we find the vehicles along the Khyatruun river. We leave with great regret the yaks and load the vehicles before continuing on foot towards the Orkhon falls. Day 8D8. Trekking in the Orkhon Valley

Day 9D9. Trekking in the Orkhon Valley

Trekking in the Orkhon Valley. Day 10D10 : Orkhon Valley – Karakorum – Ogii Lake

Departure to Karakorum, ancient capital of the Mongol Empire. We are visiting Erdene Zuu Monastery, one of the ancient Buddhist monasteries in Mongolia. Erdene Zuu means’ hundred treasures. The building dates from 1586 and is subject to the political winds many ups and downs known. Once the complex consisted of more than a hundred temples. Part of the monastery is since 1990 active again and pressure restored. It is one of the cultural highlights in Mongolia. The complex is fully fenced and every fifteen meters there are stupas, 108 in total, into the wall. The lake Ugii Nuur is a wonderful place for birdlife – cranes and ducks, to name just a few species, migrate to the area around late April. Ugii lake (Ogii lake) is also renowned for its fishing. Ugii lake is a lake, 1, 387 meters above sea level in Ugii Nuur Sium in Arkhangai Aimag. It covers 25 square kilometers, and is rich in Perch and Pike. Day 11D11: Ogii lake – Khustain nuruu

We are heading to the natural reserve of Khustain National Park, known for its famous Przewalski horses, called takhi in Mongolian, small “prehistoric” horses, they have paintings that go back more than 15 000 years and can be found in the Lascaux caves! These horses disappeared naturally in the 1960s, and were reintroduced to Mongolia through zoos from different countries. Since the arrival of the twenty horses in 1992, the population has increased to almost 300! Our host family settles at the heart of this protected area during the summer time. Day 12D12: Khustain nuruu - Ulaanbaatar

We’ll have breakfast in the café after arrival in UB and take you to the hotel. After taking a rest and in your hotel, we’ll go for shopping to the State department store, the largest shopping mall in Mongolia, a leftover of the Soviet occupation. You can find cashmere and leather, whatever you want to give for souvenir, present and gift. Folklore show Concert of traditional music and contortionists. Presentation of the Traditional Mongolian instrument Morin Khuur, old two-string adorned with a carved horse’s head. Overtone singing performance previously only used by shamans to enter into communication with the spirits. FB, overnight in tourism hotel
