Read it in French: Climat en Mongolie
After the short spring, the hot summer is savored on the green grass and under the blue sky. The few rains that enhance the season are a welcome refreshment! The autumn then briefly blushes the landscapes and cheeks, before giving way to the harsh but sunny winter to which Mongolia owes its nickname of “country of the blue sky”!
Nestled in the heart of Central Asia, it is a country with authentic seasons that remains accessible all year round!
In the spring of the Mongolian New Year Tsagaan Sar (end of February / beginning of March) in May, it is the hardest season, where “the bodies are tired”, for the breeders as for their beasts. Season of the wind, days of 11 to 15 hours of sunshine, daytime temperature at 10 ° and nocturnal at -10 °.
Summer, the summer season and the high tourist season, from June to August / September; diurnal temperature of more than 20 °, nocturnal between 5 ° and 10 °. Less wind, but rains: the first in late spring, and the big summer rainy season between July 15 and August 15 – but nothing like monsoons!
Autumn, felt season, September to November; days of 12 hours of sun, 15 ° and wind, and nights at -5 °.
And winter, the 9 x 9 season, the 81 coldest days – and the shortest of the year; less wind, snow every 7 to 15 days, and temperatures of -15 ° to -25 ° in the day, for -35 ° at night.
This gives you an idea; for more details, consult the following weather link:
|Max||15 °||20 °||21 °||20 °||14 °||6 °||-6 °||-13 °||-16 °||-11 °||-2 °||6 °|
|Low||2||8 °||11 °||10 °||3||-5 °||-16 °||-22 °||-25 °||-22 °||-14 °||-5 °|
But as the weather in the country can sometimes be very changeable from one day to another, or even during the same day, here is an idea of the extremes that the city has already known (but which do not repeat each year !):
|Max||29 °||37||39 °||34 °||27 °||24 °||10 °||11 °||-7 °||3||17 °||25 °|
|Low||-12 °||-4 °||1||-7 °||-11 °||-27 °||-36 °||-43 °||-44 °||-44 °||-39 °||-24 °|
It is therefore always advisable to carry with you a little clothes of each season, privileging in quantity those concerning the season of your trip. If you are going in the summer, you should wear light clothes but do not forget to bring a warm sweater, trousers and a windbreaker!
